This is very interesting and very well written.
If I had a suggestion, I think it would be to take out the date from the title and produce it in the opening paragraph. For no real reason other than it makes for a little more curiosity from this reader’s pov, would make me want to go in and find out more straight away with the big question – when did it occur, a ‘hook’ to draw the reader in.
