h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

If some of the graffiti artists around here applied themselves to traditional art, there would be some pretty good stuff. I find it fascinating that the people who paint up signs that hang over the highway never get caught. Even at night, there is traffic and people MUST see them. I would love to know how they get to where they're hanging over the road, how they paint while holding on, and how many fall off.

I see a research grant in your future...

You'd have to install hundreds...no THOUSANDS of cameras and you probably wouldn't get any pictures. That would be so cool.

I was more thinking of how many graffiti artists you'd have to splat on the tarmac to get statistically significant results...

"Hello. I'd like to report a vandalism in progress, by exit 17 of the highway near Genericsburg. I can't really describe the individuals involved because it is dark."

"Yes, I realize it is 3am, and there are lots of drunk drivers out there at the moment who need stopping, but this is vitally involved with the beauty of our huge road signs and bridges."

"Hmmm, they said they would look into it."


Anyway, that is my guess as to what would happen if you actually saw a graffiti creation in progress and reported it. Maybe I'm wrong and some authorities would act quickly enough to catch them. Personally, even though I work nightshift, I never have seen any highway graffiti in progress while driving to work, but then I'm usually busy looking at other traffic, and I don't have to drive very far.

You'd probably get a fixed rate fine for using your mobile phone while driving!

I wonder what would happen if one fell of the sign and splatted on your windshield...

but onli if u survived the crash from turning round to look at the artists and i think graffiti (cnt spell) is art.
