Non 'Super' Heros

Nice page - very comprehensive

Is there a proper term for non-super superheros?

Batman is just well trained and has nifty technology, Doc Savage is the same. Probably goes for people like Iron Man if you see what I mean. Heros doesn't seem enough somehow

Superior will and determination would go some way to fulfilling the "super" requirements. A superior desire to help one's fellow man certainly fits the bill. Even without his regular powers Superman proved he has that.

Conversely, there is one specific case I know of, where a character has serious super-powers but cannot really be classed as a super-"hero". That case is the Incredible Hulk. While he does do some heroic things occasionally, they're not things he generally sets out to do. In fact, helping may just be one of a number of random reactions to a situation, depending on what mental state the Hulk is in. It could just as easily be "HULK SMASH!!!"

Seems fair to me. I suppose you could say that Two face isn't always a Super Villan by the same token.

True, and Batman has been fortunate that, with one or two exceptions, most of his foes are mostly human. Although their own insanity does give a serious edge, a maniacal strength, that shouldn't be underestimated.

Is the against the odds thing the 'Hero' part.

When Batman takes on someone he doesn't have some cosmic wrenching power to rely on just trining brains and determination. Bizzarly a lot of stories involve puting Super Heros in situations where their power is of little use for some reason.
