Why am I restricted?

"We're sorry, but you are restricted from posting to this site."

I only use the BBC to post on the science messageboard.

Suddenly I cannot post, and only get this message.

I have not had a message from anybody at the BBC.

Who did I upset?

How do I get "unrestricted"?

I'm not convinced this is the best forum for your question. However, you do indeed appear to be restricted. I don't know why in your case. I do know it's not always done properly or for the right reasons though. Someone else seemed to have it happen to them "accidentally" recently (or at least that was the report they got back, or claimed to have done, when it was fixed). Do you share an IP address with someone else who might have been banned?

"I think the best thing to do is send them an email, and be patient.

There is a [contact us] button on the pages of the Science and Nature board. This is _the_ way to contact the site Hosts.
State clearly your user number and the site of concern. Be polite, try to be clear in what you request and above all be patient.

This is not an IP block. Then you get a different reply. Besides how would that work for seperate boards ?"

I know *this* isn't an IP block. However, the IP might have been used to (mis?)identify them as being the same as a repeat offender on mbsn. There have been a lot of repeat account offenders on mbsn who've been pretty much allowed to get away with it until relatively recently, when there seems to have been a bit of a shift towards taking some action. Which might therefore be leading to some over-reaction too.

The H2G2 Editors

We don't discuss individual moderation decisions on site. It's possible that your account has been identified as being involved in something worthy of a global ban, so if there's been a mistake you will need to email the editors of your main messageboard. We cannot change the status of your account.
