Oh, nearly forgot. There was an interesting theory doing the rounds in the UK media about WMD that might be worth a mention...
This is very weak, but the theory is that Saddam thought he had WMD but didn't - his subordinates were lying to him....

There's an interesting story of three brojers involved in this conflict arr ached to this sory. Reminds me of the 'Pals' battalions, where men from close-knit communities were encouraged to enlist together, so that they would fight more fiercely to protect each other. It ended up with whole towns losing men at the same time - very tragic. I've been meaning to write an entry on the Accrington Pals for a long time. Maybe this will serve as a reminder.

Thanks, would be good to have a EG entry. I will revise it a bit. BTW on the pals issue. In my company we have two twins that are serving together. Thanks again for the comments, very kind. Maybe more than I deserved

There are some typos to be sorted and some full stops (periods) to be added. If you like, I'll proof read it for you.
I think there's a heading needed before the bit that starts:
'Somehow these same people will say that “no one” wants us in Iraq'
By then, the topic has moved away from Saddam's attrocities. You might consider something like:
'How do the population view us?' or something such.

As far as the final section goes, I think that it is self-evident as a summation and final argument and not needing of a break from the previous section, however I will put that up to the common consensus. On the technical aspects of the writing, if you would like to edit I would actually appreciate that.

Hi flipper
Perhaps a header simply saying ?
As for editing the techy stuff: once the entry's been recommended for the Edited Guide (aka "picked" by a Scout) a Sub-Editor will come along and do that for you. Phew!
I look forward to seeing it on the front page

It's definitely better with a final header. Not sure that 'The Aftermath' is the best one, however for the moment, (brain not yet being in gear) I'm not sure what would work better. The aftermath sounds final, and it's still 'work in progress', isn't it? Maybe something like 'The next steps', although that wouldn't quite work in describing what the locals think of the situation...

Why do I get the feeling that this could start more flame wars than an argument at an arsonists convention if this ever makes the front page? The anti-war/USA/Bush brigade will pounce on this. The article looked ok but a lot of people are gonna dispute a lot of the things writted merely because you were there and therefore "are a pawn of the Bush Empire's world domination plan" as a friend said to me on the soldiers in Iraq....

"Having personally killed one of the people listed on the aforementioned site I can tell you this much, the site lists people killed while attacking coalition forces as civilians. "
That bit in particular is going to get you torn apart by a few people if they read it, I like the article but I just wanted to warn you that there might well be a backlash.

Hi seargantFlipper,
Haviong read this when you first submitted it, I was very pleased to see today that a Scout had taken the brave step of recommending it. I say brave, because as some people have mentioned, it's quite contentious and also a very personal narrative.
We definitely think this comes within the remit of the Edited Guide. It's a unique report on something that few people will/should ever experience and it definitely has tremendous value to our goal to document life, the universe and everything.
Sadly, at the moment all the text has disappeared. Are you revising it slightly? If so, let me know when the text is back up and we'll look at getting this onto the next stage of the process.
It must have taken quite a lot to get this all down in the first place. Well done!

The title of this attracted my attention, I was somewhat disappointed to discover the text has gone... even more so after reading all the glowing praise this has received. I would very much like to read it - please let us know when it has returned.

Given that the text is still gone, should we consider moving this thread back to the entry?
I know there are soldiers out there who have been ordered to delete their writing off of blogs, etc., because it either gave away too much information or had the wrong kind of opinion. I hope that wasn't the case here.
Key: Complain about this post
