Just out of interest, what do you think of the situation that arises when the writer of the article is obviously in possession of specialised knowledge on the subject they are writing on, to the extent that beyond grammar and punctuation, the sub editor is ill-equipped to comment on the content of the submission? Surely some of the literary and historical articles posted require specialised editing?
The two articles I submitted have on the whole been sympathetically edited, but I think the potential problem exists.
