I might seem a bit over-sensitive but the trouble is I can't tell how much of this is humourous since I encounter real attitudes like this. Assumptions and prejudices like there being no cable tv in Wales or no cars.
The last sentiment may be correct and "...the nicest people on Earth" is a friendly comment.
But "climbed out of the mines", "learned how to use outside toilets" and a "pointless" language simply used to "exchange rude comments about the english" - what are you trying to say? These are rude and stupid comments. Do you really believe this? Would you talk about other groups or races like this? Is this incredibly deep irony made to look idiotic?
(taps Rhyd on forehead) - Hello? Is there anyone at home?

I'm English and have lived in Wales for the last twenty years. It's a great country with great people and I wouldn't consider moving back to England, but I have found that the one thing the Welsh people lack is an ability to laugh at themselves.

... of course, we should laugh at ourselves right?
But should someone write a similar piece about any ethnic minority it would be pulled out straight away - and rightly so.
It's insulting and obnoxious, and as has already been stated, an opinion which, unfortunately, I encounter all too often.
