Bleeding

Post 1

PonderingStudent

I also find this a useful reminder for how to treat bleeding - complete with mnemonic.

1) B – BARRIER – If possible put on gloves to protect yourself.
2) L – LOCATE SOURCE – Where is the blood coming from?
3) E – EXERT DIRECT PRESSURE – put pad and hand over wound and press hard for 10 mins.
4) E – ELEVATE – Raise wound as high as possible, as injuries and location allow.
5) D – DRESSING – Apply appropriate dressing once bleeding has stopped.
6) S – SEND ON – Send casualty to / fetch further medical help as appropriate to wound.
