h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Jet Packs and Furure cars? Here's another transport related one. I read an article in The Independent a couple of months ago all about a personal jet car type thing. I seem to remember a feeling of optimism coming from the piece, although the journalist did compare it the vehicle The Jetsons get about in and I don't remember the writer sticking their neck out and suggesting it would 'take off', if you will. The bloke whose big idea it all was (and I believe still is) did predict that it would be succesful though, but then again he would, wouldn't he? The pessimist in me forsees only great hazard and expense, however I still think it is a great fun idea, one which should be kept tabs on if only out respect for the man who's developed it. Does any one know more about it or have any clues as to finding out how its all going? Perhaps the journalist who wrote about it may know. And what about the pros and cons? My prediction is that some loaded loon will have bought one within the next ten years, and have written it off within the next eleven.
