Still seems that people aren't ACEing as they should be though, it always seems to be the usual suspects doing the work

I've just had a look at the new users list and it's creeping back up again, so this is an appeal to the lazy buggers who call themselves ACEs:
Stop the usual ACEs, the ones who actually care about the scheme, from doing all the work and earn your salt!

They need to reavalueate the Aces now if thats still the case enough is enough its 1)unfair on the sole few Aces who Are welcomeing newbies
2)there are loads and loads of researchers who want to become Aces 2 again and who want to welcome new researchers to h2g2 and cant becouse these aces who just dont want to welcome newbies but are happy enough to hold a badge if they want to just help people out and not welcome newbies join the G.A
3)Its unfair on the newbies who join the site and dont get there welcome in a better ammount of time its sometimes a day or even longer there being left on site not knowing whats what wondering around then leaveing again becouse theres not a welcome to keep them interested in the site about the other parts of h2g2 other than front page..my convo..help..feedback....online..changeing there preferences
I think it could be time for a rethink of the what Aces do page

Might I suggest taking this discussion to the place where it really belongs - the ACEs' e-mail group?

Well it would be better there altho they was talk of this being disscused before but i dont think that it was even mentioned i might be wrong tho im no longer a Ace so i dont get the E-Mails any more
And to be honnest about it the people who dont welcome it will be keping stum anyway they wont want the spot light on them???

Quoting from 'What do the ACEs do':
'It's worth noting at the outset that being an Ace does not tie you down to any specific obligations'

So basically the scheme contradicts itself. But it still doesn't excuse people from actually doing some work! All the other volunteer schemes have targets - for example, us Subs have to edit one batch of entries a month. What excuses the ACEs? I still stand by my original point of too many people polishing their shiny badge, a badge easily gotten and kept.

Aww fords
The bottom line is a comfort could be found in a constant core of ACEs that do the welcome work. Unfair for some to work more, probably, but has it ever been fair?

Well you don't get away with slacking on the other schemes, why is the ACE scheme so different?

i have seen that in many a convo in defence of the Aces in question
i was helping the Aces (Altho im not a Ace any more)to help them becouse there was loads and loads of newbies i was told thankyou for the help but please dont
so if researchers who are not Aces cant do it
And Aces are not tied down to the obligation of at least welcomeing newbies to the site
and im sure italics are far to buisy (i know they are now they have lost staf) to welcome newbies
who is meant to do it are we to let h2g2 die becouse its no ones obligated job to do a few welcomes how many newbies will stay without one god i remember how huge h2g2 was when i was a newbie and was glad of the welcome becouse i probably would have gone as well
Ford......
If manda walked past it could have a heart attack you doing that
