This is my first day here, so I hope I'm not trying to sneak in quietly .
Seems to be an interesting place to spend time, but I'd say a bit slow... Can you tell me, does it always take really long time to get some message posted, or is the problem with my computer?
Is there a list of all researchers and how many of us there is? Or is the only way to surf homepages the random search or users-list?
(questions questions questions...)

Forget the question about posting speed. This time it was quick (which it wasn't at morning..)

The number of people who register is probably just more than your own researcher number (as you have just joined the community - welcome (again You can search for reseachers by name, by searching the guide. If you click on my name (which takes you to my homepage) there are a couple of links there, one showing all users on at the moment (I cannot remember who I stole it from, but thanks) and another takes you to the site index (A to Z). Hope this helps......
