The thief clearly had some knowledge of apiculture. At no time of day is a beehive left unattended so he must have had skill and understanding in order to escape unharmed.
On the other hand, the beekeeper demonstates astonishing ignorance if he expects the bees to recognise his pleas of innocence. Some kind of extemist hippy type?
So your 'moral' is, at best, misleading
