The line "A wild boar in an oak tree" derives from Cacophonix the Bard in one of the Asterix adventures. Not exactly the "original" text of the song. In any case, it doesn't make any more (or less) sense than the partridge in a pear tree. Personally, I've always thought that the song evoked images related to Christmas. Which came first, the song or the evocative images?
