Lou Lou, Pauly and Karlito (Patron Saint of Senility, Triplets and Woking) Muuuhhhahahahahahahahaha......give me cheese and then

As far as i'm concerned or at least aggravated by this line...this is what it means to me.

Said pear tree is an embodyment of the actual world itself which doesn't happen to be a big green onion, and the annoying singular partridge is and can be any mistake, failure, disaster that happens to befall the unwealdy singer of said PANTS tune!!!!

No it quite clearly is a DNA/HHGTTG thing. As we all know the Guide mk II took the form of a bird and could reverse engineer the universe(s) to suit itself. Therefore this is an archaic reference to the Guide mk II's visit to earth centuries ago to reverse engineer something that would be vitally important in the future.

Of course what that future holds is unknown, it could have been to reverse engineer the creation of H2G2.com!

This line was actually modified from the original (see line re. Wild Boar in an Oak Tree), following David Cassidy's rendition of the song during a Christmas special. The props department couldn't find the traditional oak, and had to make do with a pear tree instead. They amended the line to reflect the change of tree and David's presence in it.
