This would be an evocative beginning for a story set in Blackpool. However, I think that for a postcard, it needs to focus more firmly on one thread. Try cutting out the old lady and the decrepit state of the rest of the hotel and concentrate on Barry.

You could be right, my problem is ... it's the building I'm more interested in. I shall think on. They're both fading together and for the same reason. Probably too much to do in a short piece.
