Libraries which contain the version number as part of the name, hence you can keep 'em all around and never "break" a bit of your software when you install something "new" and it put's a newer/older version of the library on your disk!

I've got to say that I've been pretty impressed with Redhat Linux throughout the several versions I've seen - but admittedly I haven't looked at any other installations. Could be the beginnings of a 'holy war', I guess, but have people got any other recommendations?

I use Mandrake Linux 9.1. The PowerPack edition comes with 7 CDs containing about 2300 pieces of software including full office suites, games, multimedia and graphics applications and so on.
And I'm pleased with it. It is far more reliable than Windows.
