A Conversation for Do animals empathize?

Animal Empathy

I'd really recommend reading 'If a Lion Could Talk', by Stephen Budiansky. It's about how much, or how little, other animals may think, and what people might think animals are thinking.
Regarding cats, however different their thoughts might be, there's no denying that many of them are highly skilled at appearing to be affectionate, and that's a good enough approximation for most people.
