I can vouch for the similarities between NationStates and the book Jennifer Government, as long as you intend to run your country as a Completely Consumerist State with virtually nil in taxes.
By the way, A certain web bookshop has had the book available for ages. I bought a copy a few weeks after getting into the game and found it a right laugh.
