I went to see Roy and Nick last night (19/11/99) In Morcambe.
But as you will see from my home page/journal I've seen them
both a few times.
One man rock and roll band is one of my favourites too.
Where are you seeing them/have you just seen them?
My dad brought me up with Harper/Zappa/Wainright/Beefheart etc etc.
What else have you got into through your friend, or otherwise?
Talk to you soon.

It was Ediburgh I saw them, recently. Both times before we were in Aberdeen.
Roy is the biggest thing he got me into, but his extensive music collection got me into early early Pink Floyd (like anything before Dark Side), Jethro (early stuff again). It was also he who started me on Spiritulised (though Spaceman 3 came from his flatmates brother). He introduced me to Led Zep as well. I am sure there are others, but those are the ones I can remember at the moment.
I still enjoy other music and my collection is eclectic to say the least. From my childhood my parents listened to Monty Python and The Dubliners, so from there into The Spinners and through to The Corries. From there an intrest in folk leads to Steeleye Span, Fairport all the way through to Skyclad. Friends at school lead me into teenager territory, U2, Shakespear Sister and the Eagles. Once at university *blam* widened horizons, The Incredible string band, Ozric Tentacles, Dead Kennedies and at the moment world music (you know the tiny section in any music store).
Oh yes Ian lead me into Cyprus Hill and House of Pain, so I can probably thank him for Fun Lovin' Crims as well. I also listen to the music of the instruments I play, so solo piper, classical guitar and mandolin (and fitting in with the world music Didgeree doo stuff).
Wow. Well enough rambling, I also enjoy Dr. Hook and Steve Earle *No* time to stop, or you will get a run down of ALL the albims I have (and used to have)
so I will sign off now - BCNU - Crescent
ps. sorry about the late reply, being an ACE means all the forums get weeched away in a torrent of welcomes.

Well it seems like you have a varied taste, like myself
I was introduced to most of the bands you mentioned through my Dad!
I am now introducing him to stuff such as:- Marilyn Manson, NIN,
Red hot chili's, the Mission etc.
We've both introduced each other to stuff like Leftfield,Orbital, Underworld
blah blah blah.
Have you heard of XTC?
I grew up listening to them too.
Anyway, gotta go, talk to you soon.

Unfortunatly, I dont spend enough time with my family to be able to educate them musically. I played Archives and Death and Glory for them, they just complained he was whiney. Whiney!, can you believe it (OK so 'Why' on D&G is whiney, but the rest is ace ye now), and now my sister has come back from Australia and is into Boyzone, Steps. Don't worry I have the lobotomy on order for her
*Sigh* and now it is crimble and I have to return, and take up the fight once more (last year it was Spice Girls, Spice Girls, Spice Girls.....aaarrrggghhh, coming out in a cold sweat just thinking about it *shudder*)
Time to retreat to Lego Yer Ego for I while methinks

Whiney???
Unbeleivable.
Anyway me and my dad are the only ones with any music sense and taste.
My mum constantly sings along to Steps and S Club 7 etc,
my brother gets excited by Peter Andre and Sash!
I'm glad I've moved out.
My brother's extremely loud radio alarm in the morning finally broke me.
The worst thing was that he insisted on still listening to Atlantic 252,
ever since I said it was good (in about 1982). I finally told him to get a life
and listen to radio 1 (some a.m. DJ's were good)- well to be exact he finally
'heard' me telling him to get a life, and he changed to radio1.
But shortly after Zoe Ball...ocks took over the breakfast show, kicked off
Kevin Greening, and I changed stations, but he continued to listen to that shite
at an unexusable hour, at Maximum volume. Beleive me Zoe does'nt sound any
better at 500,000 decibels (her normal level is about 200,000 decibels)!
That's my moan over with. Sorry.
Talk to you soon.
Have a great chrimbo, and new milleniyear.
Take care then, bye bye now.
