A Conversation for Scotlands Anthem

Scotlands Anthem

Post 1

Phoo

Personally, I wouldn't like either of these songs as a National Anthem. 'Scotland the Brave' (as sung by the Tartan Army) goes something like;

Nyahh, Nyahh, Nya-Nya-Nya, Nyahh, Nyahh,
Nyahh, Nyahh, Nya-Nya-Nya, Nyahh, Nyahh,
Nyahh, Nyahh, Nya-Nya-Nya, Nyahh, Nyahh,
Scotland the Brave - Da, Da, Da..........
and so on.

While the troops have nearly mastered the words of 'Flower of Scotland' but going on about gubbing "proud Edwards army" is hardly modern thinking.

Two much better songs are Dougie MacLeans 'Caledonia' and Hamish Hendersons 'Freedom Come All Ye' - whether either could (or should) be the National Anthem is debatable.

Hey - Perhaps we could write one on h2g2?
