Its apocryphal, but many years ago, in pub, in Cornwall, early evening a young 'know it all' (not me, I hasten to add) was having a and sounding off about The Ford motor company to his mates.
Conversations ground to a halt and the young man warming to his task took to embelishment.
At this point a really old boy - denim dungarees, collarless shirt- quiet in his local before supper - you know the kind. Said something along these lines:
'Excuse me young man, but you are not quite right over the early days of the company!'
'Is that so old man - what do you know anway?'
'Well' deep breath 'Me and Henry built the factory, I worked along side him!
Silence followed by a quick exit.
