Yes, but the Irish desperatly don't want to revive our language. Only the government do.

Why not? Such a nice language... so many silent letters. Always thought that a language that you have no idea how to pronounce is worth learning.

That's too bad, really. All that fighting for independence, and what for? Still speaking the conqueror's tongue...
I'm disappointed in you, kid.

Actually, the fact that the Irish speak English is the saving grace of our country. Americans are willing to invest in Ireland because of the fact that we're in the EU, and speak the same language as them. It's because of the fact that we speak English that Ireland has gone from a second world country in the 1970s, to the 12th richest country in the world (per population).

But it's still the conqueror's tongue. Where's your national pride?
(disclaimer: I've stopped being serious some posts ago, not sure where)

The conqueror also introduced democracy to us. But I suppose it would be better to go back to being city states under rival kings.

Yay for rival kings!
(I refuse to stay serious, you can keep talking to yourself if you want to)

Well, technicly they weren't city states, but small little kingdoms with no united government.

And there was a fish, and if you ate this fish then you would become super-intelligent.
