Actually, the fact that the Irish speak English is the saving grace of our country. Americans are willing to invest in Ireland because of the fact that we're in the EU, and speak the same language as them. It's because of the fact that we speak English that Ireland has gone from a second world country in the 1970s, to the 12th richest country in the world (per population).
