Why not? Such a nice language... so many silent letters. Always thought that a language that you have no idea how to pronounce is worth learning.

Oh, I can pronouce it alright. I just don't understand it.

I think I'll learn it one day. But I should learn Portuguese first.

My language is English, not Irish.

Actually, the fact that the Irish speak English is the saving grace of our country. Americans are willing to invest in Ireland because of the fact that we're in the EU, and speak the same language as them. It's because of the fact that we speak English that Ireland has gone from a second world country in the 1970s, to the 12th richest country in the world (per population).

But it's still the conqueror's tongue. Where's your national pride?

The conqueror also introduced democracy to us. But I suppose it would be better to go back to being city states under rival kings.
