Ok, this a a nie and quick informative text, but the exmaples of bass players seems a little thin and obscure, so here's a slighty revised list.
Mark King (Level 42)
Stanley Clarke
John Pattitucci
Flea (of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers)
Ljeland Sklar
Jonas Hellborg
Stuart Hamm
Billy Sheehan
ok, so the players above vary from classical to cutting edge bass playing, to Mark King and Stanley Clarke's Jazz/Funk slapping/popping fusion, so the limits the bass can be taken.
By the way I am taking by the bass back up after nearly 18 years off. As the wife puts it "for soemthing to do".
