Hehehe, maybe YOU get distracted very easily, but *I* don't!

Monty Python's meaning of life wasn't actually a scientific article, but more a parody of one. Nice movie to watch, but of no real value to anyone who wants to LEARN something, unless it's learning about parody that one's interested in.

Festival: I didn't say it was scientific, I just used that particular phrase because it had some value. And I did LEARNED something by it, not all knowlegde comes from scientific articles. Sometimes you've got to find out things the unconventional way.
You learn something everyday, scientific way or not.

Yeah, that's the old idea about the fool and the scientist: The scientist can learn a thing from the fool. But then the question arises: WHAT can he learn? Acting foolish?

Let's take it a bit deeper.

Post 24

Poseidon

That depends who's the fool and who's the scientist smiley - smiley

When you learn from a fool, that's for one of two reasons:
Either you're a bigger fool than the fool you're learning from,
or you're only THINKING you're a scientist, which proves you're a fool as well.

When you learn something from a scientist, you MUST have been a fool before you learned anything from him, because you didn't find it out yourself. But at least you weren't as foolish as those who never learn smiley - winkeye

we were talking about something else.. we got all distracted didn't we? Just like I said earlier smiley - winkeye

*I* didn't get distracted, *you* did. I just followed your lead, seeing where it takes us, and learning you something smiley - winkeye

Challenging assumptions, perhaps?

Maybe... I'm not exactly sure how to take this. (possible) answer/option or "mild accusation" smiley - smiley

Anyway, Osiris knows what I'm driving at, and I know what he is up to. I dare him to face me smiley - smiley

Hope to see you when I get up again in a few hours. It's now 5:15 AM, and I ought to get some sleep.

A bit of both, I'd say. smiley - smiley I've been agreeing with you for the most part, but it seemed to me that your arguments were a teeny bit lacking in moderation.

Hehehe, "lacking in moderation" huh? No, that's just a game. Osiris is trying to provoke me, but HE is the one with the name of a God, without knowing too much about that name. How moderate smiley - winkeye

Let's take it a bit deeper.

Moderate is called by those who are - thinking much to highly of them selves. It is just a nick, and I do know what kind of name it is. Would it make a difrence if I told you I don't believe in god(s)?
(thats a retoric question)

I don't think highly of myself at all, if that's what you mean. I'm even surprised if anything I say is taken to be of value to others.

And no, it wouldn't make a difference. If I were to call myself Allah, you would do the same to me, as I am currently doing to you smiley - winkeye

(Politely ignoring the "retorical" nature of your question, since it's not that retoric to me)

When I chose my nickname I did not realize it could offend people. If it did I will change it..
Did it? anyone?

Aha! NOW I know what it's about! You would feel offended, if I would have named myself Allah smiley - winkeye

Yes, I think I would.
Do you feel offended by my name?.. if you do, I will change it

No, I'm not offended at all. I'd just like to know more about it. And since you're the one with that name, I simply hoped you would be able to offer your knowledge to the Guide. If that was ticking you off, I feel I should appologise to you. smiley - smiley

Oddly enough I have been listening to "The Art of Fugue" during most of my postings in the "Who is this God person anyway?" thread. I hadn't realised that _GEB_ had come up in conversation elsewhere. Still finding my way around you see.

Doesn't matter at all, Deryk.
Everyone has the freedom to open up new conversational items attached to ANY article. I was very happy with the discussion you opened up.

After all, this "more info?" thread wasn't the most successful one.
This thread was mostly use by people who wanted me to read more books (which is also a good way to start ofcourse smiley - smiley), but it died a bit, several days ago, after some joking around and petty bickering. The thread "so, who is this god person anyway?" is more of a true discussion at the moment.

It is ALL part of the theme, and it will all be taken into account.
