A Conversation for How To Perform An Exorcism

I read through this guide after a fellow newby to the post like myself sent it to me, both of us when we first signed up noticed a propensity among some to ridicule the beliefs of others and as believers it disturbed us that maybe this was a place we would not be welcome however over the past few weeks I personally have met some really lovely people whose conversations and humour have been a real source of fun, laughter and respite in a busy and demanding life for which I thank God literally

Having said this I wonder what the intent of this article is if it is to seriously inform others of the practices of the catholic faith why you would ridicule people’s beliefs in the process by being so derisive and dismissive. If it is simply meant to be a humour article "which is definitely not to my taste" why in this format.

I believe that God made all with a free will free to choose to believe or not to believe and to ridicule anyone for exercising that right which ever choice they make is abhorrent to me and I hope to others on Hootoo.

Hi hayayfi,

If you have read any of my pieces or postings on HooToo, I'm sure you will have noticed that I bear no particular malice or ill-will towards people's faiths or beliefs. I frequently find myself defending such viewpoints against some of the more virulent attacks.

I would hope that people would take the entry as a gentle, tongue-in-cheek look at the issue of exorcisms - along the "Life of Brian" route if you will. For those looking to be informed, it is quite factual and details the actual procedure followed. For those who may look a little askance at such practices, I feel the humour helps keep a sense of context.

I am genuinely sorry if I have offended you as that was certainly not my intention. However, the Christian faith has proved itself to be robust enough to withstand far stronger attacks than this and I would like to think that even a Priest may smile at some points.

Hi SWL™ Socialism - Strangling the chicken to get more eggssmiley - smiley

Thank you I appreciate your sincerity my problem with this article stems from my concern for the hurt it caused my friend and the fact that rather than being humorous it appears to mock her beliefs in this area.

I realise that humour is a subjective thing my daughter will laugh continously whilst watching Frank Spencer while I simply want to shoot him and put us all out of our miserysmiley - ermsmiley - whistle

I honestly did not find it funny and can't help wondering if your intent is to inform someone who is looking for information on this subject why you feel you need this type of "humour" as it detracts from this by derailing the reader.

I agree that Christianinty is robust after all despite what peope say or do we are still here over 2000 years later and while I can enjoy a healthy debate smiley - ok I draw the line at mocking or personal put downs.

I have not read any of your other pieces though I have seen your name around and I think on my first week on three months back I came across you in a thread on call centres I seem to remember you got your self in trouble somehow smiley - winkeye

I have now visited your PS and agree you have a gift for FIMD that should be scientifically explored smiley - whistle

From the wife of another middle aged scot smiley - biggrin
