Hope and Despair

And so I return

After so long away.

To look at the feelings

I had yesterday.

Too long have I waited

And hoped for respite,

Too long in this world

So full of fight.

For the light is fading

And the shadows draw near.

Can I survive

Yet another year?

The world has gone mad

With acts of aggression

But I still hope and pray

For some sort of regression.

Look beyond the fight

Look beyond the earth!

At the end of it all

What are we worth?

A handful of dust

An ocean of tears

A pocketful of hopes

Dashed by our fears.

Wake up you leaders!

You toy with our being

See through the lies

And just start believing.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
