In your life as a jedi, you may choose a more... proactive stance. Your lightsabre may see more use then others might. This will prevent any harm that they may have caused, but you would of learnt nothing of there purpose. This is represented by you using your lightsabre just now. Another road is the more passive and thoughtful. The rocks were moving, but where and how. In this case you knew the how, but why not simply move out of the way and follow the rocks destination, this will allow you to learn of there prupose, but you might not be able to stop the damage they could cause.
These options are the clear cut ones, there are many greys inbetween. The path you take in the fullness of time will be your decision alone.
