I would have to agree with those that have said Coopers sparkling ale is the best beer in Australia, although in my opinion only in bottles not on tap. Unfortunately there is not a decent tap beer in Australia.
Beers from elsewhere that i have been lucky enough to stumble across include:
Kronenburg 1664 - France
Theakstons Old Peculiar - England
Macs - New Zealand
Iceberg - Nepal
Bintang - Indonesia
Nothing from the US - but i'm happy to be pointed in the right direction.
Cheers, Linus

If you are ever in San Fransisco check out the San Fransisco Brewing Co., The Steelhead Brewery and the Thirsty Bear all interesting brewpubs with a good range of beers.

Thanks for the tip
Unfortunately, the only ones that seem to make it to Australia are from the multinationals (bud, etc...) as is the case with most imported beers worldwide unfortunately.
Perhaps we should set up an exchange system, although i'm not sure how Coopers would travel via airmail...........

The entries in this post so far make me weep with joy that I do not live in one of the countries mentioned higher. Although rich in their cultures and proud of their traditions as they should be, beer it seems is not one of the qualities they can pride themselves in.
I do not mean to give offense.
I'll give you three beers : 3 Fountains Gueuze, Reinaert Grand Cru and Rochefort 10. Don't tell me which ones I missed, I know the ones I did not mention.
Go to Belgium. In Belgium, go to Gent. In Gent go to the "Waterhuis aan de Bierkant". There my friends you can have beer as beer is intended to be enjoyed.

Belgium is well known for beers
I'm not sure how well beer travels though. If i could get my hands on those beers in Australia would they still taste anything like what they are supposed to?

One of my favourites is Gales HSB. I live in Southern England so this turns up in pubs in the area sometimes, plus there is a tied house in the area. I have a few others I like. Hopback Thunderstorm, until my local Hopback pub decided not to take it anymore. I now have to find something else to drink!!. 6X when you can get a good pint.
What else do we all like & love?
