*after several hours, the spilt drink soaks across the carpet, which causes awakening*
Ah that smells good.
*licks carpet*
Thank you for the drink. I needed that.
Oh! The place is empty again.
*resumes carpet cleaning activity and waits*

Linus...42, i guess that makes me the answer... Posted Jul 6, 2000
I've no idea about the cigar thing - to backtrack 20 posts or so. I've no intention of buying any myself and yes i agree a or 20 is a much better way to go.
As for seeing me around at odd times...I resemble that remark LOL
G'day there Kes, you will usually find it pretty quiet here about now and that self service is a good idea if you don't want to die of thirst...

Kes Posted Jul 6, 2000
Good advice - thanks. Didn't want to break any house rules. Right, self-service it is.
*pours and quaffs*
Oh - belated congrats.. Bringing 'em up gets easier after the first 24 years (so they say).

My mother will be glad to hear that - only a few more months for her to go. Though I am still at uni so really won't be leaving the nest till I am 26 at the earliest (my D.Phil is supposed to be done 1 day before my 26th birthday).

One lives in hope. When one of mine was 16 I bought it a T-shirt which read: "Why don't you leave home while you still know everything?", but the message went unheeded. I'm hoping graduation will do the trick, but I think we feed 'em too well.
Just time for one more before my timer runs out.
*pours another (only some on the floor)*
Cheers - good luck with the binding.

My nine year-old asked how old she had to become before we (her parents) moved out, so that she could have the house for her self.
*Pours herself a of Grumphuttock.*
I heard that Tony Blairs 16 year old sun got arrested for public drunkenness. Oh dear!

Yes you have, you did it just a minute ago!
Afternoon all.
Hmm... The idea of still living with my parents at 26 is a bit alarming. I'm 26 now, but moved out as soon as I could afford to after graduating (which was about 6 years ago; yes I was 20 when I graduated!) and given how tense things got before I managed to get a place of my own, I think there would have been some kind of explosion by now, or at least a murder, one way or the other!

Bumblebee Posted Jul 6, 2000
I'm having another one, can I get you anything?
*Pours and hands one over to IanG without waiting for answer*
I moved out when was 15.

Hmm... I think my mother moved out when I was about 11. My Dad left when I was 7-8, but my Mum is never in the house - always running out somewhere...

Kes, thanks for the good luck wishes.
Ian, I don't live at home - left there at 19 when went to uni, but I still go back occasionally and have my official address as there and will do till at least I finish my D.Phil. at 26.
Everyone, I have finished my report and handed it in, and tomorrow I am off home for a break. I'll be back next week. In the meantime, have some cake to celebrate.
*puts plates of cake on the bar: rich chocolate, lemon drizzle, ginger, orange, lemon and lime, carrot, vanilla sponge, cherry and kirsch sponge and black forest*

passes a (_) back over the counter. That black forest cake was good, you make it yourself? EV did say you were a wiz in the kitchen and even reckoned you could make a garlic ice-cream - I never did follow the threads on that topic. I guess with your 10000 word report you wouldn't have too much time to be messing around with garlic.

AEndr, The Mad Hatter Posted Jul 6, 2000
I did make a garlic ice cream
the cake? of COURSE I made it myself
we had an h2g2 meet up on the first birthday, anyone that went can tell you about my cake
haven't made cake or ice cream IRL for a while though, will be doing lots this weekend though
thanks for the (_)
