They may well be over-used a little - talking about them all over the place in almost every forum, when I thought we could restrict discussing them to the forum - but as long as it's a good idea, does it matter? Perhaps we use 
too much, but no-one really minds

One of those funny little Toyota Yaris things... £8500 to you, squire. I don't get it until next week, but from the test drive, I can tell you it goes considerably faster than the Peugeot 206!

It wasn't quite gun-point, but I found it a bit odd that the salesman insisted on wearing a balaclava... and now that I look at the paperwork, there does seem to be a small service charge for "kneecapping"...
