I hate chain pubs!!!
Sorry, just had to say that. Can't you name it something else? Ye Olde Forum's Head? The Vicar And Sewing Machine Forum? Looks disturbingly like a second world war bunker from outside and is full of old men playing dominoes, but has nice beer Forum?
That said, and if I am not about to be thrown out, I shall have a swift Laphroig before I start work. Incidently, what is the fine barman doing his thesis on then?

The vast majority of pubs are chain pubs. It just happends that the Firkin pubs are micro-breweries, that means I can serve whatever I like and claim to have invented it.
As for the thesis, its best you don't ask.

No offense meant on either topic. Just that Firkin are in the forefront of taking pubs I like (dark, small, twisty rooms with lots of seats) and changing them into ones I don't (big, bright, open barns with yellow paint on the walls). Also, every time I go, their micro-brewery stuff is off.
It is definately a nice idea for a forum, just I am never on at the right time.
See you somewhere funnier.

I can assure you that there will be no yellow paint in my pub. Well as soon as the builders are gone we can all get different bits to decorate. There is plenty of room. How about different rooms with different themes, some could be the close nit social pub, other the modern "what did you say, the music's too loud" veriety.
And just as a safe bet, the unique beers will never run out. I'm negotiating with EV to use the SPB Matic.

Hurrah! Just remember to buy in a large fireplace (with ornate mantel), some rickety, oddball chairs and a large antelope head. I shall feel happily at home then.

Incidently, if you are looking for a beer menu, I could point you in the direction of http://www.h2g2.com/A180046 where I am trying to create a list of Scottish beers. Unfortunately research tends to suffer, as we can never remember what we were drinking in the morning.

That sounds strangely familliar. I have done extensive research into the variability and quality of real ales. Buggered if I can remember what I was drinking at the time.

Just a thought, If anybody doesn't like it here what's to stop them opening up their own Pub? And call it whatever they like?

Bluebottle Posted Nov 18, 1999
Only the fact that most of us loyal F&F people wouldn't stand for it!

True, they do say variety is the spice of life - whoever "they" may be.

Besides, we've got a pub, gym, sewer and cafe - what more could we want?
