A Conversation for h2g2 FAQ: GuideML
General colour question.

Hey Bruce,
It's me again. It's not that I have problems; this is purely a question regarding titivation of my site. Is there any way to change the colour of text without resorting to javascript? And if not, *bangs table with indignation in the style of the Cat in 'Gunmen of the Apocalypse* why not?!?

You can change font colour by using the HTML (will currently work on GuideML pages as well) tag.
It works like this-
This text is normal colour, this text is red, this text is normal colour.
Note the American spelling of "color" in the tag attribute
You can find more info about font colours here http://www.imagitek.com/hex & here http://www.imagitek.com/bcs.html
If you use the hex values you can use any valid hex value not just the ones listed. The hex value at h2g2 will result in invisible text as it's the h2g2 background colour.
You shouldn't use the tag for entries which you are submitting for approval in the Guide, as they will be stripped out if the entry is Approved - so you'll be wasting your time.
h2g2 has also advised recently that HTML support will be limited in the future with the implementation of the GuideML DTD. As far as I'm aware changes to font, font colour or font size will not be supported and, therefore, won't work.
