The code that you've used is correct, but you haven't converted your Personal Space to GuideML - which you need to do before the picture will be displayed. smiley - smiley

Go to your personal space and click 'Edit Page' (or use this link: <./>UserEdit?masthead=1</.&gtsmiley - winkeye, click 'GuideML', then 'Change Style' then 'Update Introduction'. The picture will then be displayed, but anything else that you add to your space must be written in GuideML. For example, paragraphs should have at their beginning, and at their end. smiley - ok

Your page has to be in GuideML mode to display picture blobs. At the moment it is in plain text mode - like the conversations. Edit your page again but look for the little option buttons below the text area. Switch to GuideML and update. You should get some extra lines automatically put into your page text as a result:

your stuff goes here

Then when you save the page, PICTUREs and other GuideML things will work.

Simulpost, O omnipresent one. smiley - winkeye

Perhaps there should be a special term - Rhomulposting. smiley - biggrin

Since it happens so often, how about 'RhoSEFposting'? smiley - biggrin

That's somewhat harder to pronounce and less close to the original. SEFRhoposting would work better from those points of view but doesn't work if the intent is to convey the likely order of events.

You're right - SEFRhoposting does sound a lot better! It doesn't matter if it's not always accurate. smiley - winkeye

yay have pictures now. Thank you very much. feel a bit stupid as should have figured that out myself but thank you!

Well at least you seem to be doing fine now. You've even centred it. So you figured that out. smiley - biggrin Is the choice of that "human bean" a personal statement of some sort?

Thank you!

Post 10

the centering was luck not intentional. i just thought it looked cute and the teapot i had before took longer to load up each time. i'm not orange

Thank you!

It's probably a good thing that you are not orange! I meant more in terms of feeling over-full or too hot. The previous teapot choice probably means you were too hot though.

If you are having trouble with image loading times, does that mean you are on a digibox or on dial-up? I think just about everyone has been having some problems with the site recently but it is worse for some than others. Jim Lynn has apparently been working hard to fix things behind the scenes but can't do much about individual access methods. However, changing preferences to the plain skin helps some people load pages: <./>/dna/h2g2/plain/UserDetails</.>

oh it was only taking 3 secs to load as opposed to 2 no big problem. i'm not hot chose the teapot cause i like coffee and tea

Thank you!

Post 13

A 3 second wait sounds quite speedy to me. It's been much worse than that from here. You must have been feeling very impatient at the time. There are various coffee and tea pictures available. There's even a little animated sequence at A61345.

Thank you!

animation cool but of course milk goes in after. only place i've seen it in the wrong sequence is at mcdonalds so definately right. how do you put in links to other guide entries?

Thank you!

Post 15

SEF

In plain text like this all you have to do is type the A-number and it is automatically turned into a link for you. Now that your page is in GuideML mode you'll have to do it the hard way, eg:

tea animation

You can look on <./>GuideML-LINK</.> for more examples of different types of pages.
