I to am a Jimi fan, well more than that, it's instilled in my blood.

My dad would play Hendrix all the time, and from about the age of 10, I was hooked.

His forthought and ability were and still are outstanding!!!
A true genius in every sence of the word!!!

So very very sad he left us, just imagine what we would hear today if he was still alive!!!!

More more more! The KING of guitar.

I read a biography that said that he was so poor he learned how to play guitar when he was pre-teens by learning chord shapes on a photo of a fretboard he had mounted on a piece of cardboard. For some reason, the photo had been reversed and that's how he learned to play 'upside down'. I don't have a clue if it's true but it's still a wonderful story...

He was a man far beyond his time. Despite his seemingly limitless gifts as a musician and composer, Jimi was entirly self-taught.

He could not read music. He communicated his musical visions to his band members in terms of colours. Colours would illustrate his emotions. From these expressed emotions, unrestrained creativity was born.

"The blues are easy to play, but not to feel. You've got to know much more than the technicalities of notes. You've got to know sounds and what sounds goes between the notes"
Red House....

There is alot to be said for musician who cannot read music (I am one!) It gives a whole different approach to writing music! Based more on the actual sound, rather than structure.....

I love the fact that before his father Al bought him his first guitar, he used to walk around with a broom and pretend it was a guitar.
I am also going to add a Hendrix Quote page soon, so keep those quotes coming!

"There are alot of things you have to sacrifce. It all depends on how deep you want to get into whatever your gig is...." Jimi Hendrix

Flamin' hair just a-blowin' in the wind
ain't seen a bed in so long it's a sin
He left home when he was seventeen
The rest of the world he was gonna see
And everybody knows the boss
a rollin' stone gathers no moss

Now you'd probably a-call him a tramp
But it goes a little deeper than that
He's a highway chile

Ah, its a small place this H2G2, isn't it! I came to your page to check you out (seeing as I've recently been appointed Chief Banger at the Aroma Cafe, and then I spot that you're a bit of a Hendrix fan.
"Well," I thought, "my brother is rather fond of the man too. Maybe I should introduce them to each other...," but what do I find when I get to the thread? I found that Sid's already been here, and that the two of you have already met and "jammed" together.
Oh well, back to the cafe, I guess.

p.s. I'd love to walk away singing a Hendrix tune, but I'm afraid I don't know any - its kind of my brother's domain, that one.
