The entry for 'hockey' stated that every other country in the world calls this game 'ice hockey'. Disregarding language differences, I note the interesting fact that while the vast majority of the second (or first and fore)most ice hockey-mad people in the world, the Finns, calls this game "jääkiekko" - roughly translatable as "ice puck", don't ask me why - one group of Finns refuses to call it that.
The people of Tampere, one of the major cities in Finland, rather call it "kiakko", as "kiekko" is pronounced in Tampere. Thus they omit the reference to ice like the Canadians. Could this point to a strange quasi-supra-psychic connection between Canada and Tampere? Beats me, I just live here...
