Sorry 'Mouse, it was actually "colours". Definitely and sans doute.
How are we getting on with the Marvin thing, Gaz? Can we have a clue...?
Music Trivia 2
Gaz Posted Nov 22, 1999
15 points to Delph. The reason was indeed that a judge had awarded a percantage of the royalties to Gaye's ex-wife in his alimony settlement.
The bonus points were for mentioning that the wife in question was Anna Gordy, sister of Motown boss Berry.

Oh, apparently I got it right.
Next question then. Identify the following lyrics: all on a "clothes" theme. 5 points for each one.
a) Clean shirt, new shoes, and I don't know where I'm going to
b) Old worn out suit and shoes; I don't pay no union dues
c) She's got electric boots, a mohair suit - you know I read it in a magazine
d) The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand, or so I have read

Gaz Posted Nov 22, 1999
b) `King Of The Road' - Roger Miller
d) *ahem* - clears throat and pretends he didn't recognise `Big Bottom' by Spinal Tap
How about
"Here he comes, all dressed in black,
PR shoes and a big straw hat"

DelphicOracle Posted Nov 22, 1999
Velvet Underground, "Waiting for the Man". Though from the words alone my first thought was Worzel Gummidge.
There is nothing shameful about knowing Spinal Tap lyrics, y'know. Any takers for the other two? Or are Gaz and I all alone now? "And where are they now, the little people of Stonehenge..."
Music Trivia 2
Irving Washington - Gone Writing Posted Nov 22, 1999
to that I can add
c) Benny and the Jetts, Elton John.
I had no idea anyone but my father knew that Roger Miller song! My dad has the man's greatest hits album, which includes "King of the Road" and "You Can't Rollerskate in a Buffalo Herd", among others

Right then: 10 pts to Gaz, 5 pts to Irving, and 5 pts to TowelMaster. No points for coming in late, 'Mouse.
Next question...?
Music Trivia 2
TowelMaster Posted Nov 23, 1999
Cindy Lauper..?
Who said : 'It's true, we are officially not allowed to Rock' ?
Music Trivia 2
Anonymouse Posted Nov 24, 1999
One of the members of AC/DC when they were told by the town officials that they could play in the local "Land of Legends" outdoor concert area, but that they couldn't play that hard rock and roll stuff.
(I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but it's true, believe it or not. )

Hey DelphicOracle, that's the PetShopBoys for you there....
Sorry, just went to their concert last night... :
______
What a performance tonight
Should I react or turn off the light
Looks like you're picking a fight
In a quarrel over wrong and right
How your mood changes
You're a devil, now an angel
Suddenly subtle and solemn and silent as a munk
You only tell me you love me when you're drunk...
_____
Sorry, I am weird. I think that they write fabulous lyrics !
And yes I like Garbage as well but this takes the cake....Very...

Ah, now that you mention it, TM, that rings a bell. I've always quite liked the PSBs myself. "Left To My Own Devices" is probably my favourite; all those lyrics about knocking around the house and drinking cups of tea speak to me for some reason.
All right, brace yourselves, I feel another question coming on...
Music Trivia 2
DelphicOracle Posted Nov 25, 1999
Next question! Spot the lyrics. 5 points for each one. All on a weather theme this time...
1) It's raining, it's pouring, my love life is boring me to tears
2) I can see you, your brown skin shining in the sun
3) Crystal bits of snowflakes all around my head and in the wind
4) I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee

TowelMaster Posted Nov 25, 1999
1. Donna Summer & Barbra Streisand - Ennough is enough
2. Don Henley - Boys of summer
Music Trivia 2
Gaz Posted Nov 25, 1999
Number (iv) is "You're so vain" by Carly Simon
Who was it about, and which rock star is (probably) singing backing vocals?
Music Trivia 2
DelphicOracle Posted Nov 25, 1999
Warren Beatty and Mick Jagger, respectively.
Anyone got number 3 yet? (I thought that was the tricky one.)
Music Trivia 2
Gaz Posted Nov 25, 1999
Good answer.
I do now know what (iii) it is, but I cheated, so I won't claim that I knew it.
I will give this clue: Its rubbish.
Hmm, better think of a new question...
