As a person interested in preserving endangered languages, I wanted to make this grammar of Ainu available to those who also may be interested. Very little is available on the Internet. This is so old it is in the publ;ic domain, but copies of it are impossible to come by. I was fortunate enough to have a fading copy, and wanted to make certain that I was able to study it in a legible format. Though this version is rather homogenised (it was reduced in the input process to one size font and italics are lost), I do thank BBC for providing a vehicle by which I've been able to share these data with others who have an urge to study this now virtually extinguished tongue. If any one finds any typos (I did proof it extensively and intensively, but I don't claim perfection!), please let me know.

Delighted to see that someone has accessed the Grammar and let me know. If anyone else has, do let me know ([email protected]). I'm hoping that at least the knowledge of Ainu will be preserved even if it suffers the loss of being a day to day spoken tongue.

Thanks for putting this online. There's a terrible shortage of Ainu language and literature sources on the Internet. I can't imagine why.

Excellent! Thank you very much for your posting Ainu Grammar online. It is very difficult to find resources for Ainu, especially on the Internet. I am researching World Languages for Sun, Moon, Stars, Comets, and Meteorites and have found Ainu Grammar very useful for my research. Thank you.

Great post! I'm so glad you took the time to share this! Thank you!
I know it was a lot of work, but this information would be infinitely more valuable if each entry were properly glossed and translated, instead of just translated. As it is, it's hard to know which words and morphemes correspond to which parts of the translation. But I'm not complaining! You've really done us all a great service by putting this on the web. I hope someday someone will flesh this out a bit. Thanks again!
