It must be said that Iron City beer has lost much of its flavor and body since the city of Pittsburgh cleaned up the rivers.

I don't think that water will ever be truly clean...

As long as there is mine runnoff, the water will be chunky! smiley - winkeye

I suppose it's good to leave out the bits about whatshisname and Pittsburgh Food and Beverage. The guy nearly killed Pittsburgh Brewing and pretty well did kill D.L. Clark. I forget the details, something like he took a bunch of the money and was writing bad checks and stuff. They nailed his ass.

I guess Pittsburgh Brewing probably does okay mainly from the Sam Adams deal. I always thought it was funny that most of the beer from that company associated with Boston is made here in Pittsburgh. smiley - winkeye

I love the stuff, ever since I went to college out west at IUP. It's really difficult to find a distributor in the east that carries it so whenever I'm west of the mountains, I try to bring back a couple of cases (not that they last all that long). smiley - smiley

It apparently has its devotees, but I'll tell you what, even around here I find far more people that say "Eww" at the thought of it.

If you drink beer, but don't like the taste then Iron City is not for you. But if you like a good lager that's just a bit bitter, have an Ahrn (that's right, in Pittsburgh, there's only one sylable in 'Iron').

It's not a micro brew, or a yuppie beer and they won't charge you $25 a case.
