I hope this meets your guidelines, I am still learning Guide ML, so I have just done it in plain text.

I just love your writing style. smiley - smiley Someone will complain about words not allowable on the BBC, but I think it adds authenticity and it made me laugh.

The only thing is I loved it so much I wanted to read just a little bit more about the funnelweb. Anything else you could dig up on it or its habits would go down a treat.

Things off the top of my head:

Does it come into the house/dunny?
Exactly how do you identify one?
Can you tell us anything more about its web, which I guess has to be distinctive?

smiley - cheers Icy

Rains - Wondering where time's going and why it's in so much of a hurry!

I actually laughed at some of the phrases in this - I hope the BBC will let you keep them!

I'll just add to Icy's comments about a bit more detail on it. I'm sure I've heard somewhere that they like making their homes in meter boxes and similar places, but I could be wrong (not many funnel webs in Warwickshire!).

I agree with what's been said so far. I've googled and found that the web is distinctive, and which places they prefer to dwell in etc. You could easily add this information to the entry. smiley - ok

I certainly will add your suggestions, yes i forgot the "b - word" caused such a stir in the UK. I'll add your suggestions just as soon as I have figured out what to do next to get it edited and selected.smiley - cheers

You've done the first step by submitting this to the Peer Review forum, where people like us come and comment. Once you've addressed all queries (by either taking suggestions up and adding them, or telling why you won't add/change things), and the entry has been here for a minimum of seven days, and we all agree that it's suitable for inclusion into the edited guide, some scout will come along (sooner or later) and suggest the entry. smiley - ok

Hi,

I don't have much time for a long comment but I do like the entry! Great to see one on this topic. I wrote one on redback spiders a while ago, A2860418 so you can take a look at that if you need some ideas. I agree I would like to see more factual info in this one, like about their breeding habits, what they look like, male/female differences, more about bites and stuff...that would be great.

(And it is funny!)

smiley - cheers

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

Good entry, nicely written and amusing to boot!

I'd suggest adding things about what the Funnelweb's venom actually does, the fact they can swim and what it's natural habitat is.

Class act smiley - ok

Other than what has already been mentioned, I think the funnel web has a flaw in attacking its victims too. It can only inject its venom downwards, so you are quite safe if you want to stamp on the nasty little blighter with bare feet smiley - winkeye

There are also numerous Edited Guide Entries you could link to also, others here can help you out with that smiley - smiley

Here's some more Edited Guide Entries that you might like to incorporate, or simply just read for the fun of it smiley - smiley

A375563 Stories to Scare Tourists in Australia
A151426 Drinking in Australia
A653339 Buying Beer in Australia

To link to an Edited Guide Entry from a word in your text it is done like this (an example);

There are many other scary stories to put off visitors to Australia, despite having the most venomous spiders and snakes in the world...

Thus you will link to the Entry about Stories to Scare Tourists in Australia from the part in your text about scary stories.

Hope that helps smiley - smiley

Would this entry be better in the forum just before PR? I'm sure theres a lot more things that could be said and headers and subheaders put in too.

I already mentioned that one smiley - tongueout

But the tags mentioned above - don't put them in now if your article is still in plain text, it won't work until you change it to GuideML. smiley - smiley
