Leaving aside the problems of the evolution of the Gaia planet... another question that I find irresistable is 'Why didn't the Gaia Planet 're-produce' and perhaps eventually 'kill off' the 'human bacteria'?

It has evolved past the petty human need for eradication of all that stands in its path. It merely forced them off the planet, it was not trying to eradicate them. What I do not understand is how no one ever thought of making contact with that collective, and becoming one with Elysium. That would be a truly awesome spectacle. Great work of Transcendental fiction there.
