A Conversation for Don't Panic

Why AOL and services like it should be isolated from the rest of the 'net

Have you ever worked at an ISP? Ever have anyone call up and want to sign up with "that thing"? Ever have someone that has AOL call you and want tech support, then not understand why you won't give it, let alone they understand why you won't come to their trailer and fix their crap-heap computer? As I drone time away on the web every day, I get smacked in the face by these little shots of total idiocy, aimed directly at people that really aren't competent enough to get online themselves, they need a nifty little self-enclosed program to do it, which is just a really, really, really, really, really, sad thing in itself. It's my personal opinion that the internet would be much better off if the stupidity filter was turned up a notch.
