What on earth is (a) pinnick? I know lots of people has it for a name, but who can tell me what it means?

Well, a pinnock with an "o" is a sort of bird. Since lots of birds' names end up as surnames - Sparrow, Raven, Crow/Crowe etc, it might be a variation on that.

Thanks! I think you might be right. The road I live in in Norway is (translated) called Pinnik rd. Behind it lies Pinnik hill. Still tricky, though...
