Canada goose rises, phoenix-like, from the ashes of ignoble rejection.
... or something along those lines.

The Geese are back - It must be autumn! We might be seeing a few if we go down to Slimbridge at the weekend. Do you want a nice photie for your article?

That would be nice. Thankyou.
Have a nice time! It's a holiday weekend, isn't it? What's the occasion?
We have "Labour Day" next Monday (7th). Most countries celebrate the virtues of labour on May 1st, a month after Management Day.

I think the occasion is that there was too long a gap between the may bank holiday and christmas so they decided to have one in August! It's just great to have some extra time off especially as next week will be so short and the week after I am on hols!!!!

I hope you mean Monday 6th as that's the day we fly out!

Oops! yes, the 6th.
Long weekends are a national treasure here. We celebrate...
Queen Victoria's birthday (God bless her), May 24
Canada Day, July 1 (not to be outdone by the Americans)
Civic Holiday (No particular reason), August 1
Labour Day, 1st Monday in September
Remembrance Day Day, November 11
Thanksgiving, 2nd Monday in October
...plus Christmas and Easter, of course.
There's been talk of adding another holiday in November, I think. January, February, and March are when we could really use a break... brrrr!

We only have August bh in the last half of the year. March is good if Easter is early which it is next year (my birthday is Good Friday!) and we have the two in May but apart from that it is just August and xmas! I think I'll move to Canada (If only it wasn't for the geese!)

Going to try for the photo this weekend - DD and I walked so much last week and we have promised ourselves to keep it up so I'm a dragging him off to Slimbridge!

Don't drag him too far. A chap needs a little padding.
Let me say again how very happy I am for you both.

Cheers JTG - believe me - we can both afford to lose a little padding but I'd never let him lose too much because I like him as he is! We just want to lok good on the big day!
