Trying to prevent us talking about the subject or similar subjects. Surely the fact that they have pulled the subject has actually just sparked a debate on the subject matter which is greater than possibly would have happened if it had merely passed through wiothout controversy. But what do I know. I've only written a few entries after all.

Hosting the Entry has been deemed too much of a risk to take as it could lead to legal problems, so I've had to remove all contents from the Entry (hopefully the Moderation tag will be removed shortly so that this becomes clear).
It's better to have a hootoo without this Entry than no hootoo at all.

I'm sorry too, but I can understand the reasons.
The problem in this case isn't so much do with how powerful or otherwise Nestle are, but more to do with the way the libel laws work in the UK and the problem with obtaining accurate, objective information which I alluded to in an earlier post. In order to 'publish' as part of the edited guide, the BBC would have be sure that the facts were true and could be proved to be true. And that's difficult with the resources available to this site.

Well...
... you could put it on Wikipedia.
As Gnomon said, that BBC News item is very self-righteous, especially the last paragraph.
And I don't get what was wrong with your Entry. People did boycott Nestlé. It happened. Established fact. You wrote about it. Reality, and all that. In so doing, you mentioned their reasons for boycotting Nestlé. Reasonable. 'Twould've been an odd Entry if you hadn't.
But I don't recall that you said anything libelleous. I'm no lawyer, but I thought you'd phrased it very well.
Still, I assume the Eds had some guidance from their legal dept.
Odd.
TRiG.

Wikipedia () already has a rather crap entry on the subject.
"Still, I assume the Eds had some guidance from their legal dept." <-- correct.

Nestlé must be getting litigious again. Can't say I blame them, this nonsense has been going on for 30 years.
The actual code they signed up to is at http://www.ibfan.org/english/resource/who/fullcode.html
Most of the stuff I've seen them accused of since is explicitly allowed in that code, but the boycott lives on.

Wish I'd read this thread before I filled in that survey when I logged on.

It's not h2g2 that's to blame - it's the lawyers. Always blame the lawyers.
*no offence meant to the nice lawyers out there who fight against nasty stuff - I'm referring to only the nasty ones *

The plus side if all this is that I've just purchased a natty t-shirt and mug after following a link on the BBC News page
