Well, I just rang Eeyore to tell her how gruntled I was that gruntled (Bruce's word for the week deserving of resurrection) had been picked as the h2g2 Word of the Day. Unfortunately, she thought the news could have waited till tomorrow & was quite disgruntled when she noticed the time - midnight. Oh well....Kaye Sarah, Sarah as they say in the classics.

After all the Year 12 students had recieved their semester one results, a couple of people asked me how I went. I told them I was rather gruntled with my marks. They then all wandered off looking confused when I showed them that I had got 2 A+'s, 1 A, and 1 C+.

I have managed to slip 'gruntled' into a couple of conversations today, one being with some unfortunate woman at Barnsley tax office, who I informed, after being told I had nothing to worry about following a change of tax code, that I was now an extremely gruntled customer and hoped to be in such a mood for the rest of the day. The poor woman then apologised to me!
Shortly after this I managed to confuse a friend of my sister's on the 'phone by telling her that although my sister was currently out of the house, she would no doubt be extremely gruntled at having been called, and will be asked to call back when she returned.

Lovely to see "gruntled" here, a word previously only encountered in Wodehouse, where he would sometimes describe a character as being "far from gruntled."
