As I've just rotated to a certain specialty, I've dusted off an old entry and quickly filled in the (many) missing sections.

Merry Christmas everyone! smiley - smiley

Looks good to me.. doing an overview of an entire speciality in one entry is really ambitious.

(Ponders whether to do 'All of geriatric medicine).

I've had a few more thoughts on this: I'll drop in later today with more detail.

HI there Tufty.

I've been thinking out how to do this, it's currently an introduction to ENT as it would be given to medical students. I'm wondering if re-ordering it might make it more accessible to the people who are likely to read it. I expect it may be read by someone who had been referred to ENT but wasn't sure what they were or what to expect. Of course you dont' have to follow this it's just personal opinion.

'Why Ear Nose and Throat' - why are they all lumped together?

'Who is an ENT surgeon' - how long they would have trained for, the fact that they are all real surgeons first. Why are they called Mr or Miss?

What do the do besides surgery - a quick note that many ENT conditions are treated without surgery.

What sort of things to ENT Surgeons Treat?

Then move onto common conditions of the ear, nose and throat.

What would happen when I see an ENT surgeon : what exaninations may you have in an outpatient clinic.

I'm not really here

Had a quick look, vaguely disappointed that there wasn't a huge amount of info, just a kind of 'this might happen and we can/can't fix it'.

But could you link to my A40336184, maybe on this bit "first trying medical treatment such as nasal steroid sprays".

I've had 3 ops on my nose.

Thanks for the feedback, I've altered and extended the entry to try and cover the things you've mentioned. Unfortunately I can't cover things in much more detail without making the entry unreadable - the ideal solution would be to write and link to entries on the different conditions, which is something I wouldn't mind doing at some point in the future.

Ooh I think this is brilliant now! I love the section on how to avoid the ENT surgeon, (is it worth saying that ENT surgeons are doctors?)

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

I am the most squeamish of readers Tufty, so I had to read this with a smiley - stiffdrink but I am really amazed by the things I had no idea about in this branch of medicine. You explained it very clearly and I am sure this will be really helpful as part of the Edited Guide.
