Shazz and Fenchurch, Thanks a bunch. ICQs of support from America before I even wrote the article.
Now I really know what humble means.

Hey, LT&PP,
Hope something better comes along - I was made redundant two years ago, and I still work hard at being redundant in as many senses of the word as possible
Maybe you could use some of your newfound free time to post a full definition of "Redundant" on the guide, in case I missed some meanings...?
But seriously, from what you said it sounds like you are better off out of there - there's never a shortage of jobs for talented Quark ops. (I just wish I had the talent...)

So L'Toonz, where to from here?
Sorry to put such a serious question, but there's always a serious period when I'm drinking. It'll be over soon.

I am watching the PGA Golf tournament at the moment. Next month is the USA tennis open. In 45 days the Rugby World Cup begins
We then have the Y2K celebrations followed by the Olympic Games.
Seriously, I plan to have a complete break from real work over summer. Recharge the batteries so to speak.
Most of my family live in Adelaide and I plan spending a bit of time over there checking out prospects.
Financially there is no big need to work for a boss again. I wouldn't mind starting a free local paper. Filling it with local advertisements and local news. There is a good crew of people with the appropriate skills who took voluntary redundancy available.
Early days yet though.

Well it sounds as if you've got things worked out. After all, free drinks are always a good sign, right?

Hi Towelmaster. I intend to take a break over the summer. (Spring here in 10 days)
I belong to a club where most of the members (male and female) are over 40 and I have been approached to organise installing a couple of computers on which members can surf the net and send and receive email.
The club will pay me to run introduction to computing classes which will be free to members.
A lot of the members children are, or going, overseas for working holidays etc and this is the way the kids want to communicate these days.
If I get this scheme working well at my club I may be able to do the same in other clubs and eventually become filthy rich
Thanks for the support
