I make it that you've pretty much won I think, Orcus - well done.

And I should be alright in 3rd I think... these were just rough calculations.

Well, stunning as it is (and I am in {pleasant} shock, sad as it may be, I didn't remotely expect to be in there at this point with an 11 point deficit) I think a 3 point lead (as I make it) is not decisive with a Glasgow derby to go. Particularly with Ormy having the bookie's result up there and me having rather cocked up my scorer prediction and relying on the legendary (smiley - winkeye) generosity of Greydesk to hold that one up.

My god though, I'll bet it's put a bat up Ormy's nightdress! smiley - monstersmiley - magic

You do realise that I've only looked at one of the scores so far. I haven't had a look at what anyone has predicted - with the exception of the warm glow of satisfaction I got from realising that I'd predicted the Blades result incorrectly smiley - smiley

An that helped me too.
Old Rob Hulse was worth a few points last season so I thought I'd give him another punt this week - with top results smiley - ok

smiley - cross Well talk about the wheels coming off. I used to be quite good at this game - I've even won one season, and have come second or third on a couple of occasions.

Nowadays I have to rely on some players not turning up to avoid being bottom of the league. I'm in last place of the regular players. I've even been beaten by Master-sodding-bloody-B, and that's never a pleasant place to be smiley - wah

As for the rest of the competition: well that was a turn up for the books. Ormy's recent run of poor form has continued into the final week, whilst Orcus seems to have found his predicting-legs again, and there's been a switch at the top. With a final flourish of 19 points (including a full house) this week, Orcus has taken the title! Well done sir smiley - applausesmiley - bubblysmiley - magicsmiley - biggrin

Also honurable mention should go to Nirvanite who has managed to rise three places up the table this week after a very positive 15 points. OK, so it's not as good as the early season form, but it does show that the potential is there smiley - ok

(Tries to stop smiley - wahing into smiley - ale. Makes determined attempt to summon up some dignity.)

Er, yes, well... that was a little unexpected. smiley - erm Congratulations, Orcus, on what I believe is your first Fantasy Football Championship title. It is well deserved, after a truly superb performance in this crucial last week. Enjoy the mousemat! smiley - applausesmiley - bubbly

I suppose it just goes to show that what goes around comes around. At the end of FF16 I was gleeful and triumphant because I'd beaten riotact in the final week. Now something similar happens to me. I really don't know what went wrong for me in the final weeks of this season. The best guess I can offer is that perhaps, like many a smiley - football team, I tried to play safe and ended up being narrowly beaten.

Ah well. Life goes on. Thanks for another excellent competition, Mr Desk. A happy Christmas and New Year to all who read this. smiley - santasmiley - gift

And Orcus: enjoy your moment of triumph. smiley - applause But rest assured, the Orm v. Orc rivalry shall soon be resumed. And after this sneak theft of victory smiley - thief - in season 18, it'll be personal. smiley - bigeyessmiley - winkeye

Wheeeeeee, smiley - magic

Many thanks to you all and - well - what a stunner of a last week!!!
Given that I nearly posted a comment along the lines of '*sigh* always the bridesmaid' after being in the top three in each of the three seasons I've played this then one can see I wasn't really expecting a turnaround of such magnitude.
Thanks for the congratulations all smiley - cheers

I guess it was the weekend of the underdog - Leyton Orient (did anyone predict that?), West Ham and me smiley - evilgrin

Psycorp: seeing as how you're a Leeds supporter, it's good to see that you're able to look on being second from bottom in the table so positively. smiley - evilgrin
