the_jon_m - bluesman of the parish

would it be possible for there to be multimedia varients of the current skins ?

That way you could have an alabaster (why would you want anything else?) that just displays text and blob as it does now, and another alterbaster that displays txt, blob, video, sound effects whatever ....

Interesting idea - there could be an extra box in the My Preferences bit saying Audio-Visual Effects: Enabled/Disabled

Would be especially handy for those on slow dialup connections; a extra check box thinggy in the prsonal settings page would be the best idea I'd imagine smiley - magic

Although it has been suggested on another thread to have the larger AV content activated when you click on it - saves readers from having to stream files they dinnae want. smiley - smiley

As I personally *hate* websites that load music as soon as you visit them, all AV material will be accessable only when someone physically requests it, as we currently do.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

I'm definitely in agreement with that. I spend a lot of time streaming BBC and NPR radio, and it's a right royal pain in the fundament to suddenly have some crappy midi file or a clip of music start playing at twice the volume of what I'm already listening to. As the Web becomes more of a streaming media delivery system people who put sound files on web pages at loadup are going to have to realise it ain't such a clever idea any more.

Agreed; I find it particularly annoying sometimes when I visit a website and some audio starts up automatically; Useually can't find how to stop the audio playing, and have to leave the website as JAWS is struggling to compete over the noise of the embeded sound smiley - dohsmiley - weird

I've started using firefox, but still mainly use IE as its geared up to work better with JAWS, and I'm more famuliar with the layout; wish I was a programmer type person I'd use firefox exclusively, those greasemonkey thingies sound really interesting to change the layout/appearance of a webpage to suit one's preferences smiley - wowsmiley - geek

the features I use in firefox are tabs, and the automatic search, so if you type in something in the address bar, it tries to find git straight away for you.
