I'm not sure how well this works. I dug this from the depths of the Flea Market, Mr Cogito had started it then went off on a tangent creating another entry and left this information behind. I attempted to expand it with some examples.
The original entry was in the Writing Workshop, and that thread is here:

The original entry is A483770 - you can see where he removed the rest of the entry to create the one he eventually had edited (on NY water towers).
Let me know what you think, and if anyone has more detailed information on the international towers listed, please share.

Always remember reading somewhere, some years ago that, whereas GB was obsessed with building gasometers, France was obsessed with water towers. (However, water towers are much in ewvidence in the UK nowadays)

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

The world's largest catsup bottle in Collinsville, Illinois.
This water tower was originally made to serve the Brooks Foods catsup plant, which was built in 1907. The catsup plant is now closed, but the water tower has been preserved and restored to it's original 1949 appearance

flyingtwinkle, the entry on the catsup bottle is here: A13015207 written by my alter ego (that's me, too) as a companion piece - actually this was intended to be the companion piece. And both were picked from PR today!
Thanks GB!
